XBOX Addresses Rumors Day One Releases Will Be Removed From Game Pass — Gaming

XBOX has responded to rumors that further changes to Game Pass subscriptions will take place next year, amid claims of major changes that will include the end of day-one launches.

Widespread rumors on social media claimed that XBOX Game Pass changes would lead to a significant revamp in 2027, with the major adjustment being that first-party titles would no longer be available on day one with some services tiers.

However, in a statement issued to Forbes’ Paul Tassi, XBOX stated that there was no news to share on changes, adding that there are also no finalized plans.

“We regularly test different Game Pass offerings and look at what works best for players in different markets. We don’t have any changes to announce today or plans that have been finalized,” the statement read.

“There are no changes to previously announced games coming to Game Pass Ultimate on day one.”

Any potential changes would become the latest in a long line of adjustments made to Game Pass services, which previously included a tweak to remove Call of Duty titles from the service on launch day, starting with Modern Warfare 4.

The Ultimate tiers are now also the only way to get day one launches, with lower subscription tiers having different launch scenarios, with some coming within one year of initial launch, while others don’t have a set timeframe.
