Marvel Tokon Has Lost Nearly Half Of Its PC Player Count In Just A Few Days

Following a ton of backlash and negative reviews, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has nearly halved its player count on PC due to the port’s many issues.

If you’ve been keeping even half an eye on Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls (which you should, since it’s very good), then you no doubt know about the heavy backlash the game is currently facing. While the solid PS5 version is getting tons of love, the PC port has been facing a lot of negativity over the past few days.

To be fair, that hate is definitely warranted, as Marvel Tokon simply isn’t finished on PC and is struggling to work for most players, which isn’t acceptable for a $70 game. The state of Marvel Tokon’s PC port has been giving the game a lot of issues in its launch week, which now includes a sizeable chunk of its audience completely leaving it behind.

Marvel Tokon’s PC Port Has Lost Nearly 50 Percent Of Its Players On Steam

Let’s Hope They’ve Just Gone Over To The PS5 Version

When Marvel Tokon launched a few days ago, it’s fair to say that it didn’t exactly light the world on fire with its Steam player count. With a peak CCU of nearly 25,000 (thanks, SteamDB), it comes a fair bit under some other major fighting game franchises, which is likely thanks to all of the players waiting around to see if it had improved since the open beta.

Since the answer to that question is largely a resounding no despite what was officially claimed, Marvel Tokon’s player numbers haven’t increased since launch day. In fact, they’ve actually dropped significantly, with a peak of nearly 14,000 players in the past 24 hours, meaning that nearly half of the game’s players have decided to drop it in just a few days.

Considering that count is also on the Saturday after launch, which is usually the busiest time for a new release, it says a lot.

As of the time of writing, Marvel Tokon has just over 7,000 concurrent players, which is still very low for such a massive and recent game. It really does seem like the port’s poor reception has put a majority of players off until fixes are implemented. Even then, the damage might actually just be done at this point.

We’ve covered a lot of the negativity surrounding Marvel Tokon, and it’s a real shame considering the game itself is actually a proper banger and exactly what we want from Arc Sys. The high quality just really isn’t represented by the PC version as it stands, and it's something that really needs to be addressed soon.
