Cause a bit of chaos with these example builds for Splatoon Raiders!

If there's one thing to know about the Splatoon™ Raiders game, it's all about cooking up delicious weapon and gadget builds to creatively take out a sea of Salmonids. One can say there's a bit of fin-maxing involved…

...

Anyway! Those eggheads over at Squid Research Lab (SLR for short) came up with some example builds you may want to try out. But before we get to those, here are some tips to keep in mind when making a build.

Biggest tip: Keep experimenting!

There are several different things to think about when you make a build. You'll choose the type of tank (Power, Speed, or Tactical) and the gadgets that attach to the tank…but you also have gadget parts that can add different effects, Relic Powers (which are overall buffs), your choice of weapon, and specific powers that a weapon may have.

Yep, that's a lot to think about, but that's also where the creativity comes from! There are no "right" or "wrong" builds, so it's all about experimentation and what you personally find fun. Maybe you're one or two changes away from your ideal build…or maybe you're stuck on a raid and want to go a completely different direction. Just keep experimenting!

In general, try to:

Find powers that stack on top of each other.

Every now and then you'll find that a gadget part or weapon has the same special ability (called a "power"). Stack these together to get a stronger version of that effect.

Find powers that complement each other.

Some effects pair particularly well together—for example a power that freezes foes will pair well with something that does added damage to frozen enemies.

Keep it organized

Keeping overall gear combos straight in your mind can be challenging, so here's something that may help. To view your equipped parts, go to the Gear menu and press the ZL Button on the Gadget page.

In fact, the ZL Button does helpful things on most screens, be it Weapon, Gadgets, or Relic Powers. As the old saying goes, "When in doubt, press the ZL Button."

Presets

Since you may be trading out equipment frequently, you may want to save your previous build combos. That's where Presets come in! If you find a combo that you really like, assign it to one of six open Presets. Just press the – Button while on the Gear screen.

Example builds

Alrighty, let's get to the example builds! Squid Research Lab was nice enough to leave little notes as well.

SRL Note: We call this one the Limitless Tether Wail. Maximize the strength of your Tether Wail by taking advantage of the agility of the Speed Tank—then add a Reel 'Em In part to attract more Salmonids, line them up, and finish them off!

SRL Note: Here's one we call the Invincible Mitt. Combine the high attack power of the Meteor Mitt with the Dash Bomb's Next-Gadget Damage part, and we think you'll see some interesting results.

SRL Note: We're calling this one the Floaty Explosion. Use the Floaty Fun part with a Torqscrew and then unleash a Shellacker upon those Salmonids. Scatter some Bombloons around during the Shellacker cooldown for even more explosive fun.
