PS5 Exclusive Not Out Yet Was the #1 Best-Selling Game on Steam Last Week

A PS5 exclusive game not out yet was the #1 best-selling game on Steam last week, just on pre-orders alone, following a very impressive display at a recent PlayStation State of Play and glowing hands-on previews. It’s not often games shoot to the top of the Steam charts on just pre-orders alone. When it does happen, it’s usually large mainstream releases, and not core releases like the game in question.

Two of the some of the most anticipated releases left this year are PlayStation exclusives. One is a true PS5 exclusive, and that is Marvel’s Wolverine. The other is Phantom Blade Zero, a PS5 console exclusive that will also be available on Steam come October 29 when it releases. And Steam users are very excited for it, hence why it was the #1 best-selling game on Steam last week. It is also currently the #1 best-selling game on the Epic Games Store, too.

Top 10 Best-Selling Steam Games Between August 11 and August 18

Right behind it is another PlayStation game, Helldivers 2, which saw a resurgence this month following a substantial update and a substantial discount. The highest-ranking new release this week came in #3, and that game is Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, which did shoot to the #1 spot on the live chart for a bit. In the #4 and #5 spots, meanwhile, are 2026’s highest-rated game, Big Walk, and Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, the latter of which saw a resurgence thanks to D23 and the Kingdom Hearts 4 news.

Rounding out the top ten, leading the way in #6, is another new release: Mortal Shell II. In #7 is another game not out yet, Wardogs. #8, #9, and #10, in order, were Black Myth: Wukong, Total War: Warhammer III, and No More Room in Hell 2. The first two of these three games had considerable discounts, while the latter is a new Left 4 Dead successor.

One of 2026’s Most Promising Games

As for the new top dog, Phantom Blade Zero is the latest very promising game out of China. This time it’s S-Game’s turn. In the game, you play as Soul, an elite warrior with only sixty-six days left to live. In this period, you will fend off assassins, unravel world-ending conspiracies, and defend your values with your life.

Whether the game will deliver on the hype remains to be seen. But while S-Game may be a new name to many, it’s not a new studio. It’s mostly been making games for the Chinese market, but it’s a studio with a lot of experience, and it shows so far. You don’t get a game that looks like Phantom Blade Zero without said experience.
