Scott Eastwood's Can't-Miss WWII Thriller Gets Streaming Release Date

The WWII thriller Lucky Strike with Scott Eastwood now has a digital release date after debuting in theaters in late June.

The film stars Eastwood as a U.S. soldier named Captain John Castle who's the sole survivor of a Nazi counter-offensive attack. With his military unit gone and only his radio by his side, Castle attempts to make it back to safety, all while enduring freezing conditions and enemies close by.

It's been just over a month since it arrived in theaters, but Lucky Strike is about to be released on both digital and physical platforms beginning Tuesday, August 4.

Aside from Eastwood, the movie, which is rated R for some grisly images and language, also stars Colin Hanks, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Taylor John Smith and Jonathan Yunger. Rod David Lurie directed Lucky Strike and co-wrote the script with Marc Frydman.

The producing team included Frydman, Les Weldon, Yariv Lerner, Julie Kroll, JJ Nugent, Lonnie Ramati, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Jonathan Saba, Shana Becker, Eric D'Arbeloff, Howard Cohen, Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Lati Grobman and Scott Eastman.

After being released in theaters on June 26 (one week after Toy Story 5 and the same day as Supergirl), Lucky Strike earned mixed reviews (with a 59% critic score and 69% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes) and only grossed $1.5 million at the box office.

Some critics said that the film had strong storytelling with plenty of surprises and tension, while others called it boring, bland, lackluster and a mess. ScreenRant called Lucky Strike "empty" and a "dull imitation."

Reviews were also mixed on Eastwood's performance; while some critics called his acting incredible and captivating, others claimed that he was miscast.

Before Lucky Strike, Eastwood has starred in several films over the years, including Flags of Our Fathers, Gran Torino, Invictus, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Fury, Snowden, Suicide Squad, The Fate of the Furious, Pacific Rim Uprising and Fast X. In 2025 alone, he appeared in four movies: Alarum, Tin Soldier, Stolen Girl and Regretting You.

In 2015, Eastwood won a Teen Choice Award in the Choice Movie Actor: Drama category for his performance in The Longest Ride, and received a nomination for Choice Movie: Breakout Star. The following year, his role in Suicide Squad earned him a Teen Choice nod for Choice Movie Actor: AnTEENcipated.

Aside from his movie career, the actor also played Officer Jim Barnes in two episodes of Chicago Fire and an episode of Chicago PD, and starred opposite Taylor Swift in the pop superstar's music video for "Wildest Dreams" from her 1989 album.

Lucky Strike will be released on digital and physical platforms on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
