New HoYoverse Leak Suggests Next Game Is A Monster-Hunter-Like
Recent Leak Suggests HoYoverse Is Making A Game Inspired By Capcoms Monster Hunter
Ever since the smashing success of Genshin Impact, HoYoverse (formerly MiHoYo) has been slowly expanding its operations with dozens of active, upcoming, or rumored games currently in the works. Even though we already have several spinoff games on the way, like Honkai: Nexus Anima, some of the studio's most exciting projects are ones we still know painfully little about.
Although information is still tightly under wraps for HoYoverse's upcoming releases, a recent leak suggests that one of the work-in-progress games facing the most drastic change from what you would expect from the studio is about to be even more wildly different than its predecessors.
Hoyoverse's Newest Project Is A Drastic Genre Departure
Initially spotted by Gacha Zone on X, the fairly reputable leaker Seele Leaks shared screenshots and some brief descriptions about HoYoverse's upcoming game codenamed Nodusfall on Telegram, and when asked about what the gameplay from the NDA test was like, they responded by saying it's "Hoyo's Monster Hunter."
Although there haven't been any gameplay or in-game screenshots revealed for the upcoming release of the trademarked project Nodusfall, now seemingly codenamed "The Weavers", the leaked images of its menus and launcher backgrounds reinforce the theory that it's tied to the more grounded open-world fantasy game that was revealed through HoYoverse's official recruitment site back in 2025.
Having previously showcased a small Unreal Engine 5 teaser for the unnamed project that has been assumed to be tied to the Nodusfall game, reports have described it as offering a dynamic open world with large-scale boss battles, varied ecosystems, co-op multiplayer, and more. All these gameplay details also coincide with descriptions that Nodusfall offers a noticeably more realistic visual tone than their anime-inspired games like Genshin, Star Rail, or Zenless Zone Zero.
The Take On Monster Hunter Already Sounds Promising
Given that fans have repeatedly shared how they are growing tired of HoYoverse's visual styles and gameplay formulas at this point, the drastic change to the studio's standard live-service offerings could be just what the studio needs to capitalize on a new genre and market of players.
While the massive success of the Monster Hunter series and its most recent release of Monster Hunter Wilds have inspired no shortage of similar games or even copycats to try and replicate the same level of success, the vague details surrounding Nodusfall's high-stakes fantasy setting with a more grounded fantasy setting combined with the gameplay strengths of HoYovfrse sound like fairly interesting combination on paper.
Although we're still likely a long way off before you'll get to see footage or even an official announcement of HoYoverse's supposed Monster Hunter-style RPG, Monster Hunter Wilds will be releasing its own massive expansion with the release of Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance in 2027 for fans to enjoy in the meantime.
