New Dune 3 Trailer Reveals Long-Awaited Book Character Design

Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet and Chani (Zendaya) looking at each other in Dune: Part Three

Dune: Part Three is gearing up to be the movie event of the year.

The Dune franchise began with Frank Herbert's 1965 novel, which was rejected by over 20 publishers before winning the Nebula and Hugo Awards. It then evolved from a niche sci-fi novel into a multi-billion-dollar empire with sequels, games, and now blockbuster movies. Denis Villeneuve has since transformed the franchise into a massive high-budget cinematic experience, which has won six Academy Awards, and fans are awaiting the final installment.

A new teaser has been released for Dune: Part Three as IMAX and premium large format screening tickets go on sale. The teaser showcases new looks for the star-studded cast, such as Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, including some new additions. The Spacing Guild Navigator was shown in all its glory, and in Villeneuve's new movie, Edric is a pivotal character who travels in a large 10-foot-tall tank filled with orange spice gas.

A Guild Navigator is a senior rank of enhanced humans within the Spacing Guild. They are physically transformed through the consumption of massive amounts of spice mélange in a microgravity habitat. The Navigator named Edric is revealed in the novel Dune Messiah, of which Dune: Part Three is an adaptation of, and the orange spice gas helps cloak a conspiracy against Paul Atreides. Edric joins the anti-Atreides faction, and his appearance in Villeneuve's vision is a tall metal tank which resembles an Egyptian sarcophagus.
