Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Gameplay Leak Surfaces Online

Link walks through a forest

The announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake as part of the ongoing 40th anniversary celebrations for the franchise really did feel like a full circle moment for a generation of players. Though we didn't get to see much of what it was going to be like, the fact that one of the most beloved games of all time was returning in any capacity was more than enough for fans the world over.

The announcement not coming with much in the way of tangible information has left the door open for all sorts of rumors to start circulating among members of the community. Now, that also seems to have led to some misinformation, as well as more tangible leaks that could well prove to be true in the fullness of time.

As first reported by CBR.com, a rumor has been circulating for some time that August 4 would be the date where pre-orders for the game would open up. This came from a Reddit user who claimed they had found the information via GameStop's internal systems, though it has since been proved to be incorrect by known source Nate the Hate, who confirmed that the date was the result of a Google error, in which the search engine mixed up Ocarina with Beast of Reincarnation (for some reason).

That said, there is a much more reputable new leak from Nash Weedle (who leaked the existence of the game itself before even Nate), in which he claims Nintendo isn't going to reveal anymore about the game until September. This would line up perfectly with Nintendo's usual plans for their Direct's, with those going ahead in September previously.

At the same time, Weedle also shared that there may well be a playable version of the game at Tokyo Game Show, which would work well if they're still on track to release this year.

Last year, Nintendo held a direct on September 12, before releasing Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave less than a week later on September 17. If they do the same here, then a full Ocarina release could come as early as the end of that month, which will also avoid the arrival of GTA VI in the process.

Other than that, it's just going to be a case of sitting tight and waiting to hear more from Nintendo, particularly if they have other announcements to make as part of Zelda's 40th anniversary. I'm still hoping for the Twilight Princess/Wind Waker double pack, though that does seem fairly unlikely at this point.
