Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake release date confirmed, and it's closer to GTA 6 than you might think
Nintendo has revealed the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, and it's closer than you might expect to GTA 6.
The video game release date calendar for 2026 has generally swerved to avoid November, due to Grand Theft Auto's influence, but Nintendo has not taken the same approach.
The exact date for the Ocarina of Time remake's release was confirmed during today's 40th anniversary live stream, which celebrated the franchise's journey to date.
Towards the end of the presentation, Nintendo confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake release date is Thursday 5 November.
This puts the game within two weeks of GTA 6, with Rockstar's crime caper due to launch on Thursday 19 November.
Of course, GTA 6 is not launching on Nintendo Switch 2, so it does make a certain degree of sense for Nintendo to offer some counter-programming on its own platform while everyone's attention is elsewhere.
The Nintendo presentation didn't offer too many other surprises. There was a brief segment about the Zelda movie, with the team confirming that the film's title is, simply, The Legend of Zelda.
The Zelda film will tell an original story, drawing inspiration from numerous previous tales, rather than overtly adapting any particular game.
Nintendo also revealed that there will be a Nintendo Switch 2 console with Ocarina of Time branding, which is due to launch before the game on Thursday 29 October. There will be a Pro controller and an Ocarina available for purchase, too.
The Ocarina of Time remake will also be supported by the Nintendo Switch app, allowing players to track their progress and take part in daily quizzes about the game.
