Rideshare Stimulator Lead Writer Reportedly Replaced With ChatGPT

A man in a car looking back while people are in front of him.

All the way at the end of last month, Saber Interactive announced a new game called Rideshare Stimulator (weird name, I know) which would essentially see players take on the role of an Uber driver. You get calls to pick up passengers, you drive them to their destination, all while hearing about their lives and stories.

It was another seemingly harmless simulator game, the kind which has become more popular recently, but unfortunately, it seems as though this one has a sinister secret that it might be hiding. According to the game's former lead writer, Stella Sacco, it's possible that Rideshare Stimulator is absolutely riddled with generative AI.

I didn’t even see this had been announced. I was lead writer on this one! And Saber replaced me with ChatGPT midway through development. All the passenger voices were AI too. Either they changed direction at some point or they’re not disclosing it on Steam — Stella Sacco (@antlervel.vet) 2026-08-11T15:04:59.056Z

On BlueSky earlier today, Sacco made a post after realizing that Rideshare Stimulator had been officially announced, revealing that they had been lead writer on the game for a while. However, they also claim that Saber Interactive apparently replaced them with ChatGPT midway through development, and that the studio may not be disclosing the use of AI on Steam.

On top of that, Sacco also claims that all the passenger voices that are present in the game are also AI-generated too, meaning that Rideshare Stimulator possibly has an AI-generated script and voice acting. For a game that sells itself as being a chill experience that lets you listen to passengers that each have a "story that's either captivating, hilarious, or just plain weird", that's slightly concerning.

Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Saber Interactive itself, and Sacco does admit the team could have changed direction, but she does have a screenshot of a Facebook post dating back to 2023 in which she first announced she was getting replaced by ChatGPT.

It's a little bit concerning, especially for people worried about AI stealing jobs in game development, but on the other hand, it's not like you'd expect much more from a simulator game that has you driving a taxi around. Hopefully, Saber will disclose its AI use if it has AI-generated anything, and then people can know to steer clear.
