Grounded 2 Into the Abyss update

Obsidian Entertainment's miniature survival game has been in early access under active development for just over a year now. More and more parts of the park have opened up since then, and now, it's time for its biggest update yet. Into the Abyss is now live across all platforms (including a new one), and it brings the park's massive pond as a brand-new play area.

Diving into this vast area requires a lot of preparation from players, as the deeper they go, the more dangerous and more resource intensive it will get.

"What first appears to be a familiar pond quickly opens into a sprawling environment with surprising verticality, hidden routes, and new points of interest," says Obsidian. "Beyond the shoreline, you'll also venture into new surrounding areas, including the Bayou and the Mountains, while those willing to take the plunge can descend into the Abyss itself."

To survive down there, players will need a diving suit that needs upgrading as they access deeper parts of the new region. Obsidian says the pond has unlocked an entirely new gameplay loop with its own progression system, resources, and even building material for creating entirely underwater bases.

It's not just the pond that's new either, as an underwater combat system, brand-new water-based predators to fight, and even an amphibious buggy (Toe Biter) to serve as an underwater mount are here too. Moreover, an upgrade to the fast travel system, a mystery questline, and the return of ziplines are confirmed too.

The complete patch notes for the Grounded 2: Into the Abyss update can be read here, which details each of the new creatures, weapons, buildings, and all the important bug fixes that are included.

Alongside the update, Grounded 2 has reached a new platform. The long-time promised PlayStation 5 version is now available for jumping into, with the new explorers joining the over 30 million players who have already played the game on Xbox and PC.
