The Blood of Dawnwalker just got a free co-op mode

The Blood of Dawnwalker gets a free co-op multiplayer mod that enables local split-screen for two players, and it’s available to download right now.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is the latest smash-hit fantasy RPG that’s taking the video game industry by storm, following in the footsteps of 2026's other acclaimed RPG, Crimson Desert, developed by Pearl Abyss.

Released on September 3, 2026, The Blood of Dawnwalker is developed by the new studio, Rebel Wolves, led by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and Daniel Sadowski, formerly of CD Projekt RED. Along with their fellow team members, this squad of developers has previously worked on the likes of The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is clearly inspired by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, it has some impressive gameplay mechanics and world-building that sets itself apart from the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, and that’s its 30 in-game day limit, as well as its day and night cycle, which plays perfectly into the fantasy of being a vampire.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is an exceptional game in its own right; however, thanks to the ever-vibrant modding community, this exceptional fantasy RPG can be made into an even better experience for players. Such as the aforementioned multiplayer split-screen co-op mod.

The one in question is created by MrSecondPlayer, is called ‘Dawnwalker Together - 2 Player Split-Screen Co-op ’, and it’s free to download right now via Nexusmods.

“Dawnwalker Together is an early experimental mod that enables a second local player and split-screen in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Player one uses keyboard and mouse, while player two uses the first connected gamepad,” reads the description of the mod.

It’s worth mentioning that this is a very new mod, only released on September 11, 2026, and it’s currently in its alpha phase of development.

Plus, given that The Blood of Dawnwalker is a game designed to be single-player only, you’re likely to encounter some bugs, especially this early on. So it’s worth keeping that in mind before playing. The developer of the mod also recommends backing up your saves before playing.

As demonstrated by X (formerly Twitter) user Ashen One, the co-op mod for The Blood of Dawnwalker probably runs better than many of us expected. There appears to be very little latency, and to be fair, it looks like a natural evolution

“The Blood of Dawnwalker deserves to be a new AAA mainstay, and I’d gladly join Coen on future ventures,” said GAMINGbible’s Kate in her review, scoring it a 9/10.

“Rebel Wolves’ debut outing is everything you could want from the former director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but it’s also something entirely new. Its time mechanic is risky - and a nightmare for completionists - but it adds a brilliant sense of urgency into the open-world.”
