LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – Building Mayhem with The Joker & Harley Quinn
With the Mayhem Collection DLC, you get to experience playing as the iconic DC Super-Villains, The Joker and Harley Quinn. While the main game has you build the heroic legacy of Batman and his crimefighting allies, we now give you a chance to play as two of the most recognizable Super-Villains in DC history.
The new expansion draws heavily from “Batman: The Animated Series”, serving as a love letter to the landmark series created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini. That is where Harley Quinn was first introduced and the whole series is a personal favorite of mine and many of the developers on the team. Fans will find numerous references to the series throughout the expansion, including cutscenes presented in a 4:3 aspect ratio as a direct nod to the original television format. As with the main game, the expansion also features references to a wide range of other Batman shows, films, games, and comic book stories.
One especially meaningful Easter egg is a shop found in Gotham City called “Sorkin’s Gems.” The name is a tribute to Arleen Sorkin, the original voice actor for Harley Quinn, who passed away in 2023. Harley would not be the character fans know today without Sorkin’s performance, which brings warmth, humor, and unmistakable energy.
The new story mission tells our own version of Harley’s origin, starting out as Dr. Harleen Quinzel and meeting The Joker for the first time, before turning into the villain fans love. We’re excited to show more of the Arkham Asylum interior, including a “typical day in the life” section before everything descends into chaos as Harley and The Joker break out and throw a going-away party for the ages, complete with a festive sing-along.

After escaping Arkham Asylum, The Joker and Harley head to Amusement Mile, where they establish their secret villain hideout beneath the Funhouse. Here, players can expand and customize the space to make it their own, with multiple areas available to decorate, and a new set of Joker and Harley themed customizer props.
Once their base is established, Mayhem Mode sends players on repeatable, time-limited runs that are set across a locked-down version of Gotham City’s North Island. Cause chaos by robbing shops, smashing ATMs, painting graffiti, stealing vehicles, fighting A.R.G.U.S. agents and Task Force X, and collecting studs during each run. These studs are spent in the hideout to purchase permanent upgrades, 30 new outfits for The Joker and Harley, customizer props, and much more.

We also introduce a character called Henchmaster, who first appeared in Batman: The Joker War Zone #1. The Joker and Harley can rescue Arkham inmates while out in Gotham City, and then have Henchmaster train them, allowing you to assign them to a customizable crew that can be summoned to fight alongside The Joker and Harley.
You’re playing as the DC Super-Villains now, so we want you to immediately feel the differences. The team set out to make something that was distinct from the main campaign while still feeling familiar. The Joker and Harley do have familiar abilities available with the original playable characters, but there is now a greater emphasis on ranged combat through their all-new gadgets. They are fast and frenetic, and good at controlling groups of enemies. They both can move freely while using their ranged-based gadgets, providing a more run-and-gun style of combat that’s well suited for the fast-paced Mayhem Mode that requires you to constantly be on the move.

With the Mayhem Collection DLC, we really want to celebrate Gotham City’s Super-Villains in a way that feels fresh, playful, and deeply rooted in Batman history. We’re also incorporating signature TT Games elements, so The Joker and Harley Quinn’s side of the story is full of humor and fan-focused detail. From Arkham Asylum to Amusement Mile, and gadget-focused combat to villain themed LEGO builds that leave a permanent mark on the city, the Mayhem Collection lets fans create a villainous legacy of their own.
The team is proud and excited for all fans to get their hands on the new Mayhem Collection DLC, arriving on September 18 for XBOX Series X|S!
