Don't Expect Official GTA 6 Online News Any Time Soon
Reliable Insider Says Rockstar Won't Talk About GTA 6 Online "Any Time Soon"

Even though we’ve known about the existence of Grand Theft Auto 6 for quite a few years now, we don’t actually know all that much about what it’s doing differently from previous games. That should all be changing in a few weeks with the Extended Look event that will be debuting on Netflix towards the end of August.
From what we’ve heard so far, the GTA 6 Extended Look is sounding like a big gameplay reveal that’ll tell us everything we need to know about the game. One thing that some are hoping to see is any mention of its online mode, but a reliable insider has dashed those hopes and set expectations for what sounds like at least the rest of the year.
Rockstar Is Going To Keep Silent About GTA 6 Online For Quite Some Time
It’s “Not Planning” On Revealing Anything Soon
Yesterday, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier shared a video on his personal YouTube channel that focused on his talks with Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick about GTA 6. The video shares some details on what to expect for GTA 6, but focuses a lot on its expected sales figures after Zelnick told Schreier that its pre-orders “vastly” beat expectations.
Of course, while GTA 6’s single-player is bound to be a huge hit and one of the biggest video games of all time, it’s the game’s equivalent of GTA Online that’s really going to print money. Schreier touched on this in his video, noting that the current sales expectations are only in regard to the single-player portion of the game.
Schreier notes that Rockstar Games has not talked about GTA 6 Online at all so far, and isn’t planning to “any time soon”. That makes it hard to gauge what sort of expectations Take-Two has for the service, but considering the reported income that GTA Online makes a year after more than a decade, Schreier says “all bets are off” for GTA 6’s version.
So, if you’re hoping that the Extended Look might share any information about GTA 6 Online, you might want to dial back those expectations a whole bunch. It sounds like GTA 6 Online isn’t going to even be mentioned until well after the base game has launched, which means that we’ll likely be waiting until 2027 at the very earliest.
