PlayStation Plus free new AAA offering is available now - and it’s one of 2026’s best fighting games
PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim WWE 2K26 for free as part of the September 2026 lineup, giving PS5 players the chance to jump into what is the best pro wrestling game currently available.
Last week, 15 PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games were announced and starting today, some of those PS Plus freebies have begun rolling out for subscribers in the UK, USA and Japan - and that includes the aforementioned WWE 2K26, which is the most robust and deep pro wrestling game of this console generation.
As a reminder, the phased rollout is only being trialled in those mentioned territories with all other regions receiving all games in one go.
Why is WWE 2K26 worth playing today?
For starters, WWE 2K26 is a game that has been largely well-received, earning a respectable Metacritic score of 78. Sure, following its launch, many players were put off by its grinding elements when it comes to earning MFP (MyFACTION Points) in the MyFACTION mode, but since that time, developers Visual Concepts have worked hard to correct many of its issues as reported by the community.
For example, it was once very difficult to pull the best cards from its in-game store packs. However, in recent updates, the odds of pulling those special persona cards have greatly improved, and there are many ways to earn MFP and VC (Virtual Currency) in-game.
On top of that, the post-launch updates have improved the gameplay, performance and overall stability of WWE 2K26. So, if you were initially put off by the launch of WWE 2K26, and you subscribe to PS Plus Extra or Premium, now is the perfect time to revisit the game.

That being said, if MyFACTION isn't your cup of tea, then there are a plethora of other modes with no monetisation, including: MyRISE (the story mode in which your created wrestler is the star of the show). MyGM: manage WWE’s flagship shows by signing, hiring and keeping talent happy, all while competing against AI or other human players locally or online.
Universe Mode gives you the keys to the WWE Universe kingdom, and you can manage shows, rivalries, moments and more, without having to worry about competition. Showcase, WWE 2K26’s second story mode, this time narrated by CM Punk as you relive the best matches of his career and live out those that never came to be, and more.
WWE 2K26 coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium is also perfectly timed for the Ringside Pass 5, the game's new season of content that lets you unlock tons of in-game bonuses, not only for the Premium Pass but also the Free Pass. Here’s everything you need to know about the WWE 2K26 Ringside Pass.
Our WWE 2K26 review verdict
“I tip my hat to the developers for how they are continually able to improve every year,” I said in my review, scoring WWE 2K26 an “exceptional” 9/10. “Sure, it’s not a perfect game, but objectively, I believe that WWE 2K26 is the best wrestling game ever made, and that’s the bottom line, because I said so!”
WWE 2K26 is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
