CD Projekt Red have still not officially announced when we're getting The Witcher IV. With little more than a tech demo for Unreal Engine and a vague expected launch of late 2027 thanks to fiscal reports, it could be quite a while before we get new Witcher content. Thankfully, some creators aren't willing to wait that long. New Geralt content might be just around the corner thanks to an expansion for The Witcher 3.

A team of modders are hard at work on the expansion known as The Witcher 3: Revenge of Ofir and this goes way beyond just a simple mod. The team are building new stories, assets and locations for players to explore. The story itself sees Geralt being tricked into traveling to Ofir, where he is very much a wanted man. After unknowingly slaying the would-be Queen of Ofir, Geralt is now as much on a quest for survival as for answers to all the mysteries Ofir has to offer.

The game will include new enemies to battle, new NPCs to interact with and plenty of monsters to fall by Geralt's sword. A playable version of The Witcher 3: Revenge of Ofir will be released to influencers this autumn with a full public release expected in early 2027. You can expect to see plenty more content from the expansion between now and then, with the team working tirelessly to present gamers with a brand-new adventure for us all to enjoy for free.

With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past DLC also due out in 2027, there could be some real competition between official and unofficial content. The Witcher 3: Revenge of Ofir is set to be free on PC, so there really is no downside to trying it out first before handing over some hard cash for CD Projekt Red's own expansion. The bar has been set high by previous DLCs like Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine, so here's hoping the fan-made expansion can keep the standards just as high as our expectations.

Revenge of Ofir

The Witcher 3: Revenge of Ofir offers players the chance to thread lightly during a power struggle in war-torn Ofir. Branching narratives and multiple choices leading to non-linear outcomes are promised by the team and, at first glance, this is certainly no run-of-the-mill mod. It looks like a fully fledged expansion offering players a chance to visit a new continent and uncover even more lore behind the legendary root of all evil... Gaunter O'Dimm. Will we get to go toe to toe with the Man of Glass? Time will tell!

With a Witcher 3 collab happening today on August 20, 2026, and prequel fan-made Witcher projects already circulating, it seems like the Butcher of Blaviken will live on forever. With The Witcher TV series coming to an end soon, most eyes are on CD Projekt Red and the upcoming The Witcher IV for more Geralt goodness. But for those not willing to wait, these fan projects are a blessing and pay perfect tribute to the White Wolf. The Witcher 3: Revenge of Ofir is a welcome addition to existing lore, so watch this space for future updates.
