Peak Devs Officially Confirm Console Ports Will Have Crossplay

Peak's Planned Console Ports Will Have Crossplay At Launch

Peak characters on a rock.

Earlier this week, Peak's final update finally launched, bringing two whole new biomes to the game called the Gloom and The Citadel, which will be replacing the Caldera and the Kiln in rotation. It's kind of a bittersweet release, as two new biomes give us all a reason to jump back in with friends, but it does mark the end of Peak's development as we know it.

However, there is one more thing to look forward to, and that's the game's console ports. While not many details are known about the project, such as which platforms will be supported and when exactly we can expect them, the studio behind the game has mentioned multiple times that console ports are in the works.

Peak On Console Will Have Cross-Platform Support

What with Peak's final update now in the rearview mirror, those aforementioned console ports can now be focused on, and in a new update via the Peak Discord server, it was revealed that's exactly what Landfall Games are doing. And, in that update, we finally got confirmation that the game will have crossplay when it does finally launch on consoles.

"We've been slowly working on porting Peak to other platforms. Now that the final update is out, we can really focus our attention on bringing the game to consoles," reads the post.

"And the big news... Peak is going to be cross-platform, meaning that anyone who picks up the game on console will be able to play with the existing Steam community, as well as any other console platforms."

It makes a lot of sense, especially since Peak has been on PC and has been missing from consoles for a long time. Anyone that's interested in Peak has likely already tried it on PC, and now they can rope in more console-focused friends without having to buy the game again, which is good for everyone involved.

As for when the console ports will actually drop, Landfall has explained that we'll get more news at some point this year, and if I was a betting man, I'd guess they'd show up at a Nintendo Direct or maybe The Game Awards. Until then, we can enjoy trying to reach the The Citadel and dying a bunch on the way there.
