Marvel Officially Debuts New Redesigns For Iconic Avengers Heroes
Marvel's new universe gives several Avengers a major visual overhaul. The Avengers' main appeal is the concept of heroes with drastically different abilities and aesthetics coming together to confront the same threat. While Black Panther's solo comics are usually very different in tone and lore to Thor's and Captain America's, they all fight side by side on equal ground when they fulfill their duty as Earth's Mightiest Heroes. And even though heroes like the Scarlet Witch, Hulk, and Captain Marvel are powerful enough to render the rest of their teammates redundant in theory, every single Avenger fulfills an important role in the team.
These dynamics apply in every timeline of the Marvel multiverse. Earth-616's Avengers have gone through countless different line-ups across dozens of unique eras, as well as through numerous team subdivisions. The Avengers roster changes drastically in other universes, like Earth-23291's Alchemax-owned team of futuristic heroes, or Earth-982's new generation of protectors mostly made up of direct successors to the original Avengers. Depending on continuity, these variations are more or less powerful than usual, or more or less fortunate when it comes to the threats they have to face on a regular basis.
While Marvel has explored the future with teams like A-Next and Avengers 2099, and the far past with squads like Avengers 1,000,000 BC, there's one specific type of story that Earth's Mightiest Heroes are only beginning to venture into.
Realmguard's Avengers Sport Amazing Medieval Redesigns

Marvel's Realmguard universe continues to expand with the introduction of various heroes, all of whom the Iron Mechanist and the Silk-Tongued Spider meet in the middle of battle against Atlantean soldiers. Black Panther shows off his "Knight of Wakanda" skills and Hawk's Eye shoots multiple arrows simultaneously. Meanwhile, Shang-Chi fights several enemies at the same time using the Ten Rings, and the Scarlet Sorceress restrains her magical power even though she's described as "the most dangerous of them all." Each of them puts a new spin on their classic costumes, with twists like Hawkeye's surprising lack of headwear and Shang-Chi's bead necklace.
This group of Avengers, plus other characters like Namor, Mystique, and Sir Barnes, undergo a drastic medieval redesign that the Marvel Comics multiverse had rarely experimented with before. Cover art and concept art for future Realmguard Infinity Comic issues also confirms that more iconic Marvel characters will join them soon. Captain America and Doctor Doom have yet to make their first appearance in this timeline, which suggests they will play a key role soon.
Marvel's Realmguard Universe Needs To Introduce Various Redesigned Characters
Marvel's D&D-inspired Realmguard universe has an enormous pool of characters who could be reinvented as fantasy archetypes, including heroes who already possess elements that translate naturally into swords-and-sorcery. Black Knight would be one of the easiest additions, since Dane Whitman is already tied to Arthurian legend and a lineage that reaches back directly to the medieval era. Doctor Strange and Magik are also easy to translate, as Strange could be an arcane scholar with forbidden magical knowledge and Illyana Rasputin could be a battle-ready mage with direct ties to an infernal realm.
Like Namor and the legend of Atlantis, Realmguard's Thor and Hercules could be introduced without major changes to their lore, but with a few major upgrades to their physical appearance and powers. Meanwhile, anti-heroes like Moon Knight, Elsa Bloodstone, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, and Ghost Rider could expand the setting toward horror and folklore with the introduction of monsters like vampires and other paranormal creatures. If Realmguard takes its setting to the next level, the Guardians of the Galaxy could receive an especially interesting transformation as extraterrestrial or extradimensional adventurers, with Rocket as a cunning artificer and Star-Lord as a wandering spellblade or sky pirate.
