Croteam is Officially Working on Serious Sam: The Third Encounter

Fetch your 2002 Serious Sam: The Second Encounter CD, because The Third Encounter is coming, and it's picking up "exactly where The Second Encounter left off," developers stated. Croteam and Devolver Digital released an official teaser for Serious Sam: The Third Encounter and added the game to Steam. 

While it follows the events of the second game from 2002, it's actually the seventh title in the Serious Sam series. Chronologically, between The Second Encounter and the upcoming Third Encounter, there are Serious Sam 2 (2005), Serious Sam 3: BFE (2011), Serious Sam 4 (2020), and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem (2022). 

In the new installment, you'll have to load your trusted mighty minigun and go against Mental's Horde with no hesitation. The Third Encounter is a classic FPS action-adventure set in "bold new worlds packed with deadly enemies," Croteam promises.

There will be thousands of enemies to defeat and numerous weapons to play with. Sam's usual arsenal is about to get bigger thanks to "vicious new toys" that will make combat more diverse. As you travel through uncanny planets and jaw-dropping landscapes, you will get closer to putting an end to the Notorious Mental's plan to end humanity.

The new game will allow you to play solo or join a co-op run with your friends. It's still in early development, so more details on The Third Encounter will follow. "We'll keep sharing more about the game and its development as things progress, and your feedback will matter along the way," Croteam wrote on their Discord.
