How To Create Dynamic Wuthering Waves-Style Hair In Blender

Vermeil is here to help you learn.
If you're into stylized 3D and want to recreate the distinctive strand-level shadows and highlights seen in Wuthering Waves characters' hair, you can achieve a similar look using Goo Engine or Blender, with the help of Weyant's guide. It's focused on creating an HM (Hair Map), a texture that controls how the shader distributes lighting and shadows across individual hair strands, producing stylized shadow transitions and a ring-of-light effect.
Please note that if you want to achieve the original look, you'll need Goo Engine and the accompanying shader, which you can download here. Standard Blender doesn't include the Geometry Nodes setup and other features that the shader relies on. However, you can also use regular Blender with Eevee, as the Hair Map works outside of Goo Engine as well. The result may be less accurate, but it can still produce a similar stylized look.
