Sega Brings Back Long-Lost Sonic Frontiers Cosmetic To Celebrate New Sales Milestone
Sonic Frontiers has hit another sales milestone, with five million copies sold. To mark the occasion, Sega is doing a re-run of a previously inaccessible cosmetic DLC, giving us another chance to pick up the Sonic Adventure 2 shoes.
The Sonic Adventure 2 shoes were initially available from launch, in an offer that ended in January 2023. The only way to get them was to subscribe to a newsletter, and anyone who didn't get around to that in time would have missed out. Now, you can just download them separately like any other DLC, and it looks like they're staying for good.

Sonic Frontiers kicked off the Sonic renaissance when it launched in 2022. Finally pushing the Blue Blur into a new era, the open zone format was a breath of fresh air, while still giving us the 2D and 3D platforming stages we'd expect from any major Sonic game. While some feel that the hype was a little out of proportion for what it is, there's no doubt that it was a sign of better things to come, with Sonic's latest offerings - like Sonic X Shadow Generations and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds - going down a treat.
Despite the success, we're still waiting on a proper follow-up to Frontiers. Shadow's campaign in Sonic X Shadow Generations is a little too short to count, and there have been no other 3D Sonic offerings to speak of. We don't even know what the next one will look like, or when it will be with us, but I would assume Sega is going to unveil just that sooner rather than later.
The one that fans will be after is a remake of Sonic Adventure 2. Sega has previously cast doubt on this, but Adventure remakes were spotted in a leak that was proven largely accurate thus far, so there's a chance this is being worked on behind the scenes.
