Assassin's Creed Legend Ezio Auditore Officially Returns August 2026
Assassin's Creed X Watcher Of Realms Brings Back Ezio Auditore
Over the years, the Assassin's Creed franchise has had a lot of different protagonists, and quite a few of them really standout as memorable and iconic in their own right. In the recent RPG turn, Bayek and Kassandra stand out as real high points, as well as the silent and stoic Altair from the series' opening outing.
That said, for most who have played the franchise for a long time, nobody comes close to Ezio Auditore Da Firenze, who led players through three of the best games to date. Though he has been firmly in the rear-view mirror for a while now, he's still remembered very fondly by most, and so any time he shows up again, it's bound to draw attention from existing fans.
As first reported by Pocket Gamer, high-fantasy, tactical role-playing game Watcher of Realms has announced an official collaboration with Assassin's Creed, in which many of the series' protagonists are set to appear, with Ezio front and center.
The update brings in five of the more recognizable characters from across the series in Ezio, Eivor, Kassandra, Bayek and Evie Frye, who enter the game's world for a limited-time story. Essentially, all five of them will be working together to reclaim the corrupted power of the Demon Tide before the crisis on the contient of Tya gets any worse.
On the tangible front, the main focus of this new release is a mode known as Assassin’s Code, which as you might expect, is all about using your stealth skills and timing to progress. Not only that, but the new roster will slot in and fight alongside the game's existing cast of characters, including Anubis, Surtr and Hades.
If you aren't familiar with the game already, Watcher of Realms essentially blends real-time tower defense mechanics with hero collection. Thematically, you'll mostly be finding against demons, and there's a huge range of characters to choose from to help you do so, with over 250 unique heroes across 10 distinct factions.
The collaboration is set to go live globally on August 20, so you don't have too long to wait to find out what developer Moonton has been cooking up.
As for the Assassin's Creed series itself, the next project coming down the pipeline is Project Hexe. The game was set to be very different from anything we had seen previously, with heavy elements of magic, though rumors are now swirling that this has been significantly changed, and we might be in for a much more traditional experience than we otherwise would have.
