Toy Story 5 Becomes 2026's First Movie To Hit Major Box Office Milestone

Toy Story 5 is in a class of its own.
The Pixar movie was released in theaters on June 19, bringing back classic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), and Jessie (Joan Cusack) while introducing newcomers Lilypad (Greta Lee) and Smarty Pants (Conan O'Brien) to the franchise. The sequel quickly proved to be a box office hit, earning $310.2 million globally in its opening weekend.
According to Variety, Toy Story 5 has now surpassed $1 billion at the worldwide box office after making $448 million domestically and $573 million internationally. At $1.022 billion, it is the highest-grossing movie so far in 2026, having earned more than The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael, both of which grossed $1.001 billion.
