This Pokemon Pokopia Player Has Somehow Managed To Suck Bubbly Basin Dry

Bubbly Basin, the first of three DLC expansions coming to Pokemon Pokopia, launched last week. Players have already been using the underwater expansion to do some weird and wonderful new things. Spending three days ridding Bubbly Basin of almost all of its water definitely veers more on the weird side of that spectrum.

You Can Drain Almost All Of The Water In Bubbly Basin

For some reason, OffGao6502 made it their personal mission to turn the underwater town of Bubbly Basin into a far drier Pokopia POI. The player revealed on Twitter that they spent three days draining as much of the DLC’s water as they possibly could, with the few puddles and small pools that remain technically untouchable as they are needed for the DLC’s story missions, quests, and events.

Pokopia’s Bubbly Basin area is massive and, barring a few small islands that stick out of the surface of the water along with the underground cavern in which the Pokemon Center is located, it’s filled with water. It’s roughly the same size as all of the other areas in the game. It’s a sizable expansion, so to see the entire area completely drained of water is pretty remarkable.

It also makes me feel a little uncomfortable and I’m unsure why. It’s an underwater town, but all the water’s gone. It ain’t right.

Remarkable because I don’t quite understand how they managed to pull it off. Even after reading their step-by-step guide and watching their walkthrough videos that demonstrate how you, too, can suck Bubbly Basin dry, I’m still equal parts confused and in awe.

There are just four steps between the Bubbly Basin you know now and the far drier one OffGao6502 and their Pokemon now call home. First, you will need to build a sand bridge that’s four blocks below the surface of the water and placed six blocks apart. You can then walk along these sand bridges, sucking up water as you go. Make sure you do it in a zig-zag pattern to make sure you get every last drop.

To reach the deeper areas of Bubbly Basin, you will need to use the game’s spin move. Suck as you spin towards the ocean floor, hoovering up the water around you as you go. Finally, for the water that remains in the smaller parts of Bubbly Basin and the DLC’s indoor areas, all you need to do is float near the surface and suck up the water from there.

Do all of that and three days later, you will have a Bubbly Basin almost entirely void of water. The area seems to do just fine without it, and OffGao6502 has been making use of all the space that’s no longer underwater. They’ve built a lava bath for their Fire-types, finding a hidden room in doing so, and they’ve even relocated their Pokemon Center to somewhere that isn’t quite so closed off. I don't think I'll be dedicating three days to doing the same, but if you want to give it a go, now you know how.
