Apple might be working on new devices – gaming controllers for the iPhone, which can reportedly be released under the Beats brand.

As reported by Bloomberg, two such devices have been in the works for a bit over a year. References to the gaming controllers were spotted in the macOS 26.7 release candidate. The devices are reportedly intended for the iPhone. According to Bloomberg, the goal is to compete with the existing options on the market, which Apple sees as a growing field and wants to enter.

The report also claims the controllers are in development under Apple's Beats brand, with Beats executives leading product engineering and design. The company often uses the brand to experiment with new product categories, such as iPhone cases and USB-C cables, which diverge from Apple's usual design approach.

Apple recently conducted its annual presentation of new products, unveiling the first foldable iPhone – iPhone Duo with a 7.6-inch Super Retina display, and the iPhone 18 Pro, featuring the longest battery life in an iPhone, alongside Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5.

As for foldable devices, Huawei and Xiaomi announced their new models with such a construction – the Mate XT2 and the 18 Fold, respectively. Samsung also recently introduced its latest foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

Earlier, there were assumptions that Apple was developing a foldable "iPad/MacBook" hybrid. However, according to recent research, Apple canceled its plans for the device.
