All The New Details From The Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Direct
Everything Announced In The Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Direct
This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave isn't far off now. Launching on September 17, we're just a little over a month away from the latest entry in the ultra-popular tactical role-playing series, and now, we have a better idea of what to expect.
Here is everything we learned from the August 4 Nintendo Direct for Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave.
The Story Will Play Out Differently Depending On Who You Play As
- Cai wants to save his father, who was wrongfully imprisoned.
- Dietrich enters the game to "sate his thirst for battle" - he's looking for a challenge.
- Theodora worships the goddess of death and night. She fights for the honour of her kingdom and goddess.
- Leda is seeking revenge for her father's murder, after finding out his killer is entering the games.
Judging from the chat, there's a lot of support for Leda and Cai so far. Which makes sense - they seem to be "the good guys", or at least the easiest to root for.
Combat Is What We'd Expect From The Previous Games
If you've played a Fire Emblem game before, you'll know what you're doing. Although I am losing my mind over how a character straight up pulled out a gun on an enemy - that's new, right?
Other than that, axes are high-risk, high-reward, while swords are the all-rounders, and so on.
You Can Rewind To Any Previous Point In Battle - And Save Your Units From Dying
Forget permadeath - you can straight up rewind time to save your units. In the Direct, we see a character die, only for the player to go back to a previous round. We're told that we can go back to any previous point in battle, to rethink our strategy.
We Get Free Time To Explore Dagsion
Between matches, we are free to explore the city of Dagsion. We can use this time to research our opponents by watching their matches, and buy/upgrade our gear for our own battles.
Additionally, you can volunteer to work in one of the city's temples and receive a blessing from that god.
There's also a certification exam system, which lets you get new classes for characters.
Outside of that, there are also side quests available from various NPCs. We have a limited time to complete them.
Some of the NPCs you run into can be recruited to your team. You can do this by giving them gifts or inviting them around for dinner.
You can have your party stay at an inn, and give companions tasks to complete, like training. This is where the social elements kick in as well, as units bond with one another.
You Can Play As Every Character At Once
You Can Go To Other Towns
Leaving Dagsion passes more time, so be careful, but you can go off on expeditions. On an expedition, you can visit other towns and get into skirmishes to earn experience. There are also dungeons to raid.
