The Walking Dead’s New Adventure Is Reliving Its Saddest Character Death

For years, Dead by Daylight has been collecting licensed IPs like Marvel’s Infinity Stones, and the live-service game is now a bizarre treasure trove of basically any franchise, movie, or video game deemed appropriate—including, but not limited to, horror. For instance, you’re likely to see Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft, Resident Evil’s Ada Wong, Alien’s Ellen Ripley, and none other than Nicolas Cage himself huddled at a bonfire as a lobby queue of Dead by Daylight survivor characters.

Dead by Daylight features Collections that it returns to periodically with new Outfits, and one recent recipient of fresh skins is The Walking Dead collection. There are several survivors/skins that now represent and portray fan-favorite characters from the AMC TV series adaptation, including the addition of Glenn Rhee earlier this month. However, Glenn’s debut is not without a sense of irony.

Dead By Daylight Adds The Walking Dead’s Glenn

Glenn is now a Legendary Outfit skin for Dead by Daylight survivor Rick Grimes, joining his fellow Walking Dead characters Michonne Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Maggie Rhee in a bewildering new adventure. Glenn being added is heartwarming because it means that he and his wife are finally reunited, even if their reunion sees the pair enduring nerve-wracking Trials and scurrying from generator to generator as they flee from otherworldly nightmares and the greatest supervillains or killers that licensed properties have to offer.

Interestingly, this Legendary skin’s description explains that, in Dead by Daylight lore, the Entity had yoinked Glenn during the events of The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 6, “Heads Up.” This episode reveals that Glenn had, in fact, survived the events of Episode 3, where it appeared as if he had become a feast for a horde of zombies. Rather, the body that was being shredded like pulled pork was Nicholas’ corpse when it landed on Glenn, with Glenn being able to shuffle underneath a nearby dumpster.

As the inky fog surrounded him, the last thing he remembered was lying trapped beneath a dumpster.

As fans of the Walking Dead TV show know, Glenn didn’t last a whole lot longer on the show. 10 episodes later, Negan Smith caves Glenn’s head in with Lucille, a barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat that is still wet with Abraham’s blood and brains. Ironically, Dead by Daylight whisks Glenn away before Negan can get his hands on him, conveniently saving him from being murdered in the Season 7 premiere, only to have him slain in a similarly grisly manner (and in many more ways than one, too).

It seems as if the means of Glenn’s horrific and violent Walking Dead death is simply his inevitable fate, as fans can see Glenn die this way endlessly now in Dead by Daylight gameplay. If fans play as Rick with Glenn’s skin equipped and are unfortunate enough to get Mori’d by the Dead by Daylight killer Trickster, specifically the Visceral Legendary MiNA skin for Trickster. This brand-new Dead by Daylight Memento Mori animation has MiNA bashing survivors with her K-pop light stick/baseball bat while they are kneeling down.

Glenn is easily one of the most iconic and best Walking Dead characters ever, reinforced by Steven Yeun’s wonderful performance. Like with Stranger Things and many other Dead by Daylight DLC crossover Chapters, The Walking Dead can be a bottomless wellspring for Behaviour’s asymmetrical horror game to draw inspiration from. Plus, we already know that another reunion is on the way for Glenn, since his killer in The Walking Dead will be arriving in Dead by Daylight shortly.
