Alien: Isolation 2 Gets Bad News About Release Date Ahead of Gamescom

Those hoping to learn more about the release date for Alien: Isolation 2 will have to keep waiting. Following its official reveal just a couple of months back during Summer Game Fest, Sega and developer Creative Assembly didn’t say anything about when its sci-fi horror sequel might arrive. With Alien: Isolation 2 poised to have a presence this week at Gamescom, however, many fans assumed that more information on this front could be coming about at the convention. Now, in advance of Gamescom kicking off, the team behind Alien: Isolation 2 has tried to properly set expectations for fans.
In a recent interaction on social media, the official Alien: Isolation 2 account revealed that news on the game’s release date won’t be emerging to coincide with Gamescom. This information was shared in response to one user who expressed optimism that the convention would be where Sega sheds more light on the launch timing of the game. Instead of continuing to perpetuate this hope, those behind Alien: Isolation 2 were quick to state that such an announcement won’t be coming about in the days ahead.
Although Alien: Isolation 2’s release timing won’t be coming to light this week, this doesn’t mean that news on the game will be completely missing. In all likelihood, a new trailer or teaser for AI2 could drop at Gamescom to further show off what the final product will entail. The previous teaser that Sega unveiled at Summer Game Fest was more or less a tone piece that showed off some of the environments that will be present in the game. If a new trailer does drop in tandem with Gamescom, it could feature much more gameplay footage that further highlights the Xenomorph(s).
As for its broad launch window, Sega has yet to even state when Alien: Isolation 2 is scheduled. Not only has a release year for the title not been shared, but Sega hasn’t even outlined in its financials the fiscal period in which it plans to release the game. This suggests that its release is still pretty far down the road, which is validated by the fact that the footage Creative Assembly has shown up until now is still in a pre-alpha state. In short, don’t expect Alien: Isolation 2 to become available at any point in the near future.
Despite not having a launch window or date, Sega and Creative Assembly have at least confirmed the platforms that Alien: Isolation 2 will be coming to. Currently, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC versions of the game are in the works, with iterations for PS6 and Xbox’s Project Helix also being a possibility on a long enough timeline.
