Which ACOTAR Character Are You, Based On Your Zodiac
Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses is legendary among the bookish community for many reasons, but chief among them is undoubtedly its characters. Maas is a master at crafting a wide cast of characters who are each uniquely memorable and have captured the hearts (and, in some cases, the ire) of fans. With such a diverse range of personalities throughout the series, most readers have undoubtedly seen a little of themselves in one or two of these characters.
Now, Screen Rant is assigning some of the most iconic characters in the ACOTAR series a Zodiac sign that best represents their unique personalities, allowing fans to discover which ACOTAR character they are based on their corresponding Zodiac sign.
For those who are still new to astrology, Zodiac signs are traditionally associated with different personality traits based on a person’s birthdate. This list assigns an ACOTAR character to each Zodiac sign based on the personality traits they best embody, rather than their actual birthdates. So, when looking for your ACOTAR character match, use your own birthdate to determine your Zodiac sign, then see which character best represents it.
12 Cassian - Aries (March 21–April 19)

Aries are natural-born leaders, known for their courage, confidence, and willingness to take charge. As the General Commander of the Night Court’s armies, Cassian naturally embodies many of the traits associated with the sign. Beyond his leadership, Cassian is also passionate, bold, competitive, and fiercely determined, making him a particularly strong representation of the Aries personality.
If you have an Aries in your life, you know that much of their aura farming comes from simply existing. With big personalities and even bigger hearts, Aries tend to command attention wherever they go, making it fitting that one of the most powerful Illyrians in Prythian history would serve as the ACOTAR poster child for the sign. Cassian also embodies some of Aries’ less flattering traits, including stubbornness and impulsiveness.
11 Emerie - Taurus (April 20–May 20)

As an earth sign, Taurus is often associated with being one of the most grounded, dependable, and steadfast signs of the Zodiac. That unwavering nature can also manifest as stubbornness, which can be either a strength or a weakness depending on how it is wielded. Tauruses are also known for their determination and loyalty, and if there are two qualities that perfectly describe Emerie, it’s these.
Emerie is truly one of the most underrated characters in the entire ACOTAR series, embodying strength and resilience in the face of the many hardships she has endured as a female Illyrian. Her determination to overcome those obstacles makes her feel truly representative of the sign, but nothing captures her “Big Taurus Energy” quite like the Blood Rite. From carrying Gwyn up the mountain to refusing to give up, Emerie’s actions showcase the loyalty, resilience, and sheer strength that make Taurus such a fitting sign for her.
10 Morrigan - Gemini (May 21–June 20)

If anyone can claim icon status in ACOTAR, it’s Mor, making her a fitting representation of Gemini on the Zodiac Wheel. Mor isn’t the Third-in-Command of the Night Court simply because of her familial connection to Rhysand; she earned her position through her wit, intelligence, and adaptability, all qualities strongly associated with Gemini. Her ability to navigate difficult situations while thinking quickly on her feet makes it easy to see why she holds such an important position within the Night Court.
Mor also perfectly captures Gemini’s naturally sociable and charismatic nature. She is exceptionally charming and quick-witted, with a great sense of humor, and her ability to see multiple perspectives allows her to navigate both people and situations with ease. Still, Mor also reflects some of Gemini’s more negative tendencies, as her charm and outgoing personality can sometimes come across as superficial. In reality, that confidence often serves as a shield, allowing her to hide the pain of her past and the hardships she continues to endure.
9 Tamlin - Cancer (June 21–July 22)
Art by Shayndlart on Instagram @shayndl_art
Love him or hate him, Tamlin is an essential part of ACOTAR, and this list wouldn’t be complete without Feyre’s first love. Before getting into his more problematic traits, Tamlin does have plenty of positive qualities that make his Cancer placement fitting. He is deeply emotional and protective, values meaningful relationships, and places great importance on family and those he considers his own. Beneath his rougher edges, there is a genuine desire to protect the people he loves, which reflects many of Cancer’s more nurturing qualities.
Of course, Tamlin also embodies the darker side of Cancer, particularly through his moodiness, sensitivity, insecurity, defensiveness, and tendency to hold onto past hurts. These traits become increasingly apparent as the ACOTAR series progresses, especially as his fear and need for control begin to overshadow his more admirable qualities. Still, Tamlin is far from a true villain; he’s a deeply flawed character whose worst qualities often come from his own unresolved issues. In other words, he isn’t necessarily a lost cause; he’s just a fixer-upper!
8 Rhysand - Leo (July 23–August 22)

Confident, charismatic, generous, passionate, and expressive.... Are we talking about Rhysand or Leos? In this case, both. Leos are often associated with “main character energy,” and as one of the central figures in ACOTAR, it’s no surprise that the High Lord of the Night Court feels like a natural representative of the sign. Rhysand commands attention wherever he goes, but beneath his confidence is a fiercely loyal and generous nature, particularly toward the people he loves.
The fact that Rhysand is a High Lord also speaks to another classic Leo trait: leadership. Leos are often characterized as natural leaders with a commanding presence who can easily draw attention without even trying, and Rhysand certainly fits that description. Of course, what makes his Leo placement even more convincing is that he also embodies some of the sign’s less flattering tendencies, including arrogance, pride, and a flair for the dramatic. High Lord of the Night Court? More like High Lord of the Drama.
7 Gwyn - Virgo (August 23–September 22)

Next up, we have another Valkyrie claiming yet another Earth sign placement. Gwyn is one of the most beautifully complex characters in Maas’ ACOTAR series, thanks in large part to her remarkable character growth. She begins as a timid library assistant, emotionally paralyzed by the trauma of her past, but gradually regains her strength and becomes a formidable Fae warrior. That journey makes her an especially fitting representation of both the best and more complicated sides of Virgo.
Gwyn embodies the Virgo combination of intelligence, practicality, and tenacity. She is also analytical, organized, reliable, and holds herself to exceptionally high standards, often pushing herself to improve and prove what she is capable of. At the same time, Gwyn also reflects Virgo’s more difficult tendencies, including perfectionism, anxiety, and a habit of overthinking, particularly when those high expectations turn inward.
6 Lucien - Libra (September 23–October 22)

As the former emissary to the Spring Court and the current emissary to the Night Court, it’s no surprise that Lucien claims the zodiac sign sometimes referred to as the “Diplomat.” His role as an emissary naturally reflects Libra’s reputation for diplomacy, while his tendency to mediate between Feyre and Tamlin during some of their roughest moments further highlights his desire to preserve peace and harmony.
Furthermore, with his clever wit, effortless charm, and unmistakable sarcasm, Lucien is a true Libra through and through. That sarcasm also hints at Libra’s more passive-aggressive tendencies, while his indecisiveness, conflict avoidance, people-pleasing, and occasional superficiality represent some of the sign’s less flattering traits. These qualities are especially apparent in the moments when Lucien knows he should stand up for Feyre and go against Tamlin but struggles to do so. Still, despite his flaws, he’ll always be a King in our eyes, and we’re just hoping he finally gets the book he deserves!
5 Azriel - Scorpio (October 23–November 21)
Art by Aira on Instagram @artsbyaira
With his mysterious, passionate, and fiercely loyal personality, Azriel is without question a Scorpio King. Loyalty is perhaps his most defining trait, evident in his unwavering devotion to Rhysand and the Night Court, as well as his devotion to Feyre. That devotion was on full display during his now-famous “Be careful how you speak about my High Lady” moment, when he made it clear that Feyre’s honor was not something he would allow others to question.
As the Shadowsinger and spymaster of the Night Court, Azriel also embodies Scorpio’s trademark emotional depth and enigmatic nature, which is a big part of why fans are still desperate for Maas to give us an Azriel-centered book. Of course, that mysterious side also reflects some of Scorpio’s less flattering tendencies. Azriel can be intensely secretive, guarded, and at times controlling.
4 Feyre - Sagittarius (November 22–December 21)
Art by WiBell on Instagram @itswibell_art
Sagittarius can also claim some serious “main character energy,” with Feyre Archeron representing the adventurous Fire sign. As the protagonist of the series and the High Lady of the Night Court, Feyre more than matches her mate’s commanding presence. Her Sagittarius designation ultimately comes down to her fiercely independent, restless, and adventurous nature.
Although Feyre’s first journey into the Fae realm was forced upon her, she quickly proved she was more than capable of surviving, and eventually thriving, in a world completely unfamiliar to her. Her transformation from an outsider to the High Lady of her own court perfectly captures Sagittarius’ love of exploration, growth, and freedom, while her passion for painting reflects the sign’s creativity. Even the Archer symbolism makes the placement feel particularly fitting, and there’s an added bonus: Feyre has one of the few confirmed birthdays in the series, with her birthday falling on December 21.
3 Nesta - Capricorn (December 22–January 19)
Art by ROMY on Instagram @nebulapaw.studios
Most ACOTAR zodiac lists place Nesta as an Aries, with many pointing to her series-defining rage as evidence of her fiery placement. We disagree. Unlike the explosive anger typically associated with Aries, Nesta’s rage is colder, quieter, and far more controlled, burning beneath the surface rather than erupting outward. One of the clearest examples comes in A Court of Mist and Fury, when Nesta points one finger at the King of Hybern as she is forced into the Cauldron. Rather than lash out, she responds with a single, defiant promise of death.
Nesta is also arguably one of the most disciplined, ambitious, and determined characters in the series, qualities that become especially apparent as she goes from struggling with substance abuse to completing the Blood Rite. Of course, Nesta also reflects Capricorn’s darker tendencies, including pessimism, rigidity, and emotional coldness. But that’s precisely what makes the placement work: Nesta embodies the full spectrum of Capricorn, from its darker qualities to its very best.
