Official Warrior Cats RPG Announced For Fall 2026
The Warrior Cats franchise has a storied history, and anyone who grew up in the 21st century has likely seen spine after spine with the Warriors label filling a bookstore or library shelf. Each story arc includes six books, and now that we're on the ninth arc, the Warrior Cats franchise is piling up into something truly immense.
The release of another Warriors book would hardly be a surprise, but seeing the franchise jump into other mediums can be more unexpected. Now, Warrior Cats will be diving deeper into the world of video games with a full-blown role-playing game for consoles and PC.
Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest is a turn-based RPG releasing this fall on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC. In the game, players can create their own customized warrior and choose between four familiar clans — ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan — before embarking on their adventure. Along with cosmetic cat customization, cats can train various moves and combat stances in customized dens.
Notably, publisher TRAILMARK Games is offering a unique story campaign for each campaign, each influenced by "culture, conflicts, and traditions" of the respective clan. Throughout the game, players will rise through the ranks of their clans and contribute to their growth. Choices made throughout the campaign will have branching results, with TRAILMARK Games promising that each playthrough of the game will feel different.
Previous TRAILMARK Games publishing credits include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants and Big Buck Hunter: Ultimate Trophy, along with a new game based on The Walking Dead on the way.
The game will include both familiar faces and original characters, along with recurring landmarks from the world of the books. Full details about which characters might return aren't yet available, but the trailer offers a glimpse at some characters like Brightheart, and there's certainly a deep well to draw from.
It all sounds surprisingly robust for a Warrior Cats game, which should hopefully lead to a memorable experience for fans. With the release window set for this fall, all the promised features should already be in place. The execution could always falter, of course, but an ambitious but compromised experience is often more interesting than something that plays it safe and brings little to the table.
Warrior Cats is also gearing up for the release of an animated series that's set to air on The Disney Channel and Disney+ in 2028. Decades after the release of the first book, this could very well be the most exciting time to be a fan of the Warrior Cats series, at least if the new projects deliver on their potential.
