The Legend Of Zelda Movie Has Reportedly Found Its Ganondorf
The Legend Of Zelda's Live Action Movie May Have Cast Its Ganondorf
There's a lot we don't know about The Legend of Zelda's big live-action movie, and that seems to be by design. All we've seen so far is the movie's two main characters, Zelda and Link, stood in the middle of a grassy field looking a little bit confused. We haven't had a proper trailer yet, and we have no idea which game the movie is even adapting.
Outside the movie, we know that Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will be playing Link, donned in a seemingly game-accurate outfit, while Zelda is being played by Bo Bragason. We also know that filming has already wrapped ahead of the movie's release on May 6, 2027. As for official information, that's about it. As for unofficial, a Hollywood insider has given us a bit more.
It's slightly strange that filming has wrapped, and we only know two of the actors involved, but thanks to insider Kyle Buchanan, we may now know who's playing the movie's central villain, Ganondorf. In a tweet posted to Twitter earlier today, Buchanan claims that Ganondorf will be played by the Australian actor Uli Latukefu.
If you haven't heard of the name, he's been rather active as an actor since 2022, having appeared in several TV shows and movies. His most notable roles recently were most likely The Champion in Black Adam, and young Dwayne Johnson in the TV show Young Rock.
He's a relatively unknown name for many, though you could also say the same of Link and Zelda's actors. It's a stark difference to Nintendo's other silver screen pictures, those being the Mario movies, which are completely lined with big Hollywood names and talents from top to bottom, like Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Pratt, and Jack Black.
While Latukefu probably wasn't many people's pick for Ganondorf, we'll have to see if he can step into the sizable shoes of one of gaming's most iconic villains. At the very least, this means we're probably not getting The Rock as Ganondorf, and though that may be an extremely funny thing to imagine, I can't imagine it going down well with the Zelda faithful.
