The Batman Part 2's Mystery Villain Has Finally, Officially Been Confirmed
Filming for Matt Reeves' next Batman movie is underway now
The Batman Part 2's Sebastian Stan just cleared the air about his mystery role
After months of speculation, Sebastian Stan has seemingly confirmed what character he'll be playing in Matt Reeves' The Batman Part 2. In a new interview with the French outlet Le Journal du Dimanche, Stan said he's playing Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, in the next Batman movie.
While discussing how much he can say about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (answer: not much), in which he'll reprise his role as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Stan said, "I've been following this rule for fifteen years, I'm used to it. I also can't say anything about The Batman: Part 2, by Matt Reeves, where I play Harvey Dent" (via Google Translate).
Stan's involvement in The Batman Part 2 was confirmed in May, as well as that of his Marvel Cinematic Universe costar Scarlett Johansson. However, their roles haven't been confirmed by director Matt Reeves. It's long been speculated that Stan would play Dent, but other rumors pointed to him playing the serial killer Victor Zsasz. Johansson will reportedly play Gilda Dent, Harvey's wife, while Charles Dance may play Charles Dent, Harvey's father.
Harvey Dent is better known as the villain Two-Face, who's previously been portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in Batman, Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever, Aaron Eckhart in The Dark Knight, and Harry Lawtey in Joker: Folie à Deux. Often an ally of Bruce Wayne/Batman, Dent breaks bad after getting disfigured, usually because acid gets tossed in his face, scarring him physically and mentally.
The Batman Part 2 will bring back stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Barry Keoghan may also reprise his role as the Joker, according to Variety. After being previously slated for an October 2025, release, The Batman Part 2 is now scheduled to be released in theaters on Feb. 18, 2028.
