The Mummy 4 may be digging up its first new cast member, as a breakout star from 2026's biggest horror movie is reportedly in talks to join the adventure.
The Universal franchise is rising from the sands once again, as a fourth adventure entered development in November 2025, with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprising their roles after starring together in The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001). Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready or Not) will direct, with a planned release date on October 15, 2027.
Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Obsession star Michael Johnston is in early talks to join The Mummy sequel. If he signs on, he would join Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, marking his first major role since Obsession exploded into a box office sensation. The move would also keep Johnston with the studio, as Obsession was released through Universal's Focus Features.
