Adobe Completes Acquisition of Topaz Labs

Adobe announced that it has completed the acquisition of Topaz Labs, an AI company specializing in video and image enhancement models.

Topaz Labs is widely used by filmmakers, photographers, and designers for its technology that restores detail, enhances clarity, preserves temporal consistency, and delivers natural-looking results across images and video. Its most widely used solutions include Astra, which focuses on video upscaling, and Wonder, designed for image editing. The company received an Emmy Award for video technology in 2025. Through the acquisition, Adobe plans to bring Topaz Labs' AI models to users alongside its existing suite of creative tools. 

The newly introduced AI technology is available in Adobe Firefly and Photoshop. With its proprietary Neurostream technology, users can process complex AI models on their own devices or the company's cloud. The planned suite will also include features for restoring archival footage, improving low-light shots, enhancing mobile videos, preparing content for large-screen viewing, and using creative upscaling to bring AI-generated videos closer to professional quality.

Topaz Labs and its apps and models will remain a standalone brand, and the collaboration will be integrated into the tools and workflows. Adobe announced the deal back in June, and it was reportedly awaiting regulatory approval.
