NYT Connections Solution And Hints For August 11, 2026
Today's Connections are largely considered with the end of events, or the organization of concepts that seem familiar, yet aged. Unlike the last few days, the phrases in today's puzzle are shockingly simple, which can make them extra confusing to put together. That being said, the overall themes of conclusions give a broader context, helping you discover the right solution.
You only have four chances to make a mistake before losing a game of Connections, limiting your options as you play. The best advice for any day of Connections is to take your time to understand many possible contexts one phrase could mean besides what seems obvious. Similar to the Letter Boxed NYT puzzles, you have to find patterns to correctly discover the right path.
Today's Connections Category Hints
August 11 #1158
The puzzle for today is quite difficult, as each word within it can have multiple meanings. Try to think about the context of where you would use certain words, whether it's a umbrella title for something larger or something that would be said within a certain place or time. Finding one or two categories will narrow your options for others, making the patterns in the Connections puzzle make much more sense.
If you want to know some hints regarding today's puzzle categories, check out these clues below:
- One category is about words you would use to describe an unfortunate fate.
- One category is about networks that host a variety of different TV shows.
- One category is about phrases you would hear when trying to compete with others to buy something valuable.
- One category is about words that almost sound close to areas of the body.
If you want to go all out with some of your clue-searching, you should look at the category names to get some extra help. There are also spoilers for each category if you find yourself needing to solve a single category to finish up.

DONE |

TOAST |
For some reason, the word DONE was the first one that stood out to me in this puzzle, almost working as the key phrase for today's overall theme. This put the thought of conclusions in my head, which caused me to put TOAST and DONE together as two concepts referencing a bad ending. With this logic, SUNK and THROUGH followed suit, forming this category without much issue.

BET |

HISTORY |
USA |
Green is likely the hardest part of today's puzzle, as it is largely independent of any patterns. However, sharp Connections players may put HISTORY and USA together for the number of USA history shows there are. This draws you to TV as a whole, which could help you recognize BET and BRAVO as other channels on various networks.

GOING |

TWICE |
This was the easiest part of the puzzle for me, but solely because I got lucky and saw GOING and ONCE right next to each other. Anyone who's been to an auction has likely heard the auctioneer say "GOING ONCE, going TWICE, SOLD!" to sell any item. This pattern is simple to discover by putting ONCE and TWICE together too, to give you a head start.

TUNG |
The word TUNG stuck out to me in this puzzle (pun intended) as a word with no real meaning. By sounding it out, I realized it sounded like "tongue," and applied that process to other words. With AYE meaning "eye," HARE meaning "hair," and KNOWS meaning "nose," today's Connections finally had a solution.
