Pluribus Season 2 Scripts Get New Update From Apple TV Exec As Vince Gilligan Reveals Huge Milestone

Carol looking at Zosia in Pluribus season 1

Apple TV executive Eddy Cue has shared a new update on Pluribus season 2 as creator Vince Gilligan makes major progress on the highly anticipated next chapter.

Created by Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul mastermind Gilligan, the Apple TV series premiered in November 2025 with Rhea Seehorn starring as Carol Sturka, one of the few people seemingly immune to the mysterious Joining that transforms humanity. Pluribus received a two-season order before its debut, but Gilligan has been open about the lengthy filming timeline of its sophomore season.

In a red carpet interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley for Ted Lasso season 4, Apple senior vice president of services Eddy Cue confirmed that work on the new season is underway. While he has not personally seen any of the scripts yet, he expressed confidence in what Gilligan is developing.

I haven't seen them. I know they're being worked on. He's amazing. So I'm not worried. I know it will be amazing.

The update comes as Pluribus season 2 has reached a major development milestone. In a recent podcast on Deadline, Gilligan revealed that work on the new season's story has progressed significantly, and that filming is expected to begin "in a couple months." If that timeline holds, cameras could begin rolling sometime this fall, bringing the series considerably closer to its eventual Apple TV return.

Production beginning this fall would also align with what Pluribus star Karolina Wydra previously told ScreenRant. The Zosia actor revealed in April that she expected to return to Albuquerque to begin filming season 2 sometime in the fall, though she did not yet know the exact date.

Even with production approaching, audiences could still face a substantial wait for Pluribus season 2. Season 1 began filming in Albuquerque in February 2024 before premiering on November 7, 2025. Apple has not announced an official season 2 release date.

Cue's comments don't confirm that completed scripts have reached Apple, since he specifically says he hasn't seen them himself. However, his confirmation that they are being worked on, combined with Gilligan's latest progress and the anticipated filming window, offers an increasingly clear picture of season 2's status.

Pluribus season 1 ended with Carol ending her relationship with Zosia after the Others located her frozen eggs and planned to convert her without her consent. The betrayed protagonist reunites with Manousos and acquires the atomic bomb to fight back.

After months of uncertainty surrounding its development, Pluribus is finally moving closer to returning to production, even though viewers will still need to be patient for Carol's story to continue.
