GTA 6 footage and Leonida map may have leaked ahead of Netflix reveal

Considering just how hyped Grand Theft Auto VI is, it was probably inevitable that another leak would happen ahead of the launch later this year. Today, a hacking group named Cyberleek has published what looks to be gameplay videos of the title as well as a map of the explorable area.

While unconfirmed to be from the game, the footage we've seen does look like it's the real deal, showing animations and physics that feel similar to the franchise. Moreover, Take-Two has already gone to war with any uploaded footage and images, taking them down across the internet. If the leak was fake, that's not something we'd be expecting to see.

The apparent leaked clips don't show any missions or storylines. One of them shows one of the protagonists, Jason, playing and throwing some hoops solo at one of his houses. A second clip shows Jason driving, crashing a car, getting into a fight, and attracting police attention. There may be more footage floating around online.

At the same time, the leaked look at the Grand Theft Auto VI map seemingly shows off Leonida in its full. This Florida-inspired state is shown to have five massive counties players can explore: Leonard County, Lummox County, Kelly County, Mariana County, and Vice Dale County.

As for why the Cyberleek group is leaking the footage now, it is seemingly against Take-Two's digital-only schemes and locking single-player content behind the higher-priced version. It has also warned other publishers of going the same route, threatening that Cyberleek will target them next.

If the footage is legitimate, it's unclear how old the build of the game is here. Insiders say that it's at least a year old. In any case, the full gameplay reveal is just days away.

Rockstar is planning a major unveiling of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay later this month in partnership with Netflix. This deep dive will even have six hours of exclusivity on the platform. Find more about this event here.

Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. This will be a digital-only release, with even the physical box only coming with a code to download the game. No plans for a PC version have been announced yet.
