Xbox services hit with major outage, affecting games, store, and more
Microsoft has confirmed that a major outage is currently affecting Xbox services that manage everything from accounts to games.

If you've been having trouble with logging into your Xbox console or the Xbox app on PC, trying to launch games, or even browse the store in the last few hours, this isn't a problem on your internet or hardware. Microsoft has confirmed that a major outage is currently affecting Xbox services that manage everything from accounts to games.
The official Xbox status portal is currently showing Account & profile, Store & subscriptions, Games & gaming, and the Apps & mobile sections all having a "major outage."
The page says that the company has identified the issue, but the listed resolution is still marked as "Pending," with no specific time listed for when a fix may arrive. With the Halo: Campaign Evolved launch set to happen on July 28, it's not a great time for an outage with a major Xbox release so close.
"We are aware that some users are encountering errors when attempting to sign in, see your game library, or launch games," said the company in a social media post earlier today following mass user reports. "Our engineers are actively working to mitigate the issue."
Just checking in on the game library, sign-in, and game launch issue. We know this has been going on a while and appreciate your patience while our teams keep working on it. Watch here or at https://t.co/SoIhwJAdqC for updates. https://t.co/ACxfIrRS5T

The major outage hits Xbox just a few days after Sony suffered similar issues with PlayStation Network, affecting both console and PC users. Those problems were resolved about half a day after they appeared, though Sony did not elaborate on what exactly was the cause behind the downtime.
As outages continue to disrupt premium services, users online are already pointing out the problem with the all-digital future that these major companies are promising to bring about.
