It's Officially The Start Of An Era For John Krasinski's Jack Ryan

Jack Ryan is a franchise that has existed long before John Krasinski took over the role, but he has since made it his, and a new era for this iteration of the character has just unexpectedly started, which could lead to future adventures. Krasinski has been a popular star for a long time. The Office made him a global star.

Since then, the actor has shown that he can be the lead of action franchises, a very different type of role than his comedic turn as Jim Halpert in one of the best sitcoms of all time. The list of Krasinski's movies and TV shows includes action-packed projects like 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, A Quiet Place, Fountain of Youth, and more.

However, it was in Prime Video's action series Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan that he truly got to showcase his aptitude for the genre. As the latest face of the long-running Jack Ryan franchise, Krasinski led the series to four successful seasons. While Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan season 4 initially looked like the end of the road for this iteration of the analyst-turned-spy, everything changed.

Krasinski returned as the title character in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War, which was released on Prime Video on May 20. Instead of season 5, the franchise made the jump to a movie, which expanded its scope and allowed the creators to tell a more focused, high-stakes story. It worked out perfectly with Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War dominating Prime Video's charts, and it has come back for more.

John Krasinski's Jack Ryan Return Is A Global Streaming Hit Again

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War instantly became the most-watched movie on Prime Video worldwide back when it was released on the streaming service three months ago. However, as is natural, the show dropped on Prime Video's global top 10 as the months passed. Eventually, the Jack Ryan movie completely fell out of the streamer's global charts. However, that has since changed, as Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War is once again one of the biggest movies on streaming around the world. At the time of writing, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War is Prime Video's 10th most-watched movie worldwide.

According to FlixPatrol, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War returned to the coveted Prime Video chart on Sunday, August 16. While it currently stands at the bottom of the streamer's global top 10, with movies like the fantasy epic Masters of the Universe at #1 and Ryan Gosling's sci-fi masterpiece Project Hail Mary at #2, the update is extremely encouraging for the action franchise's future. Additionally, Krasinski's first Jack Ryan movie is trending in 12 countries on Prime Video, though the United States is not among them. This could be the push the franchise needed.

Jack Ryan's New Prime Video's Success Helps The Franchise's Future

So far, no official announcement has been made by Prime Video, Krasinski, or director Andrew Bernstein about a Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War sequel being green-lit. Like most streaming services do, especially with costly projects like a globe-trotting action movie, Prime Video was likely waiting to see how many viewers the movie would pull in. Well, the fact that Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War is now trending worldwide again, three months after it was released, is great for its sequel chances. It shows how the film has captivated its audience.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War's streaming success comes after Krasinski had already made it clear that he would love to return as Jack Ryan for another movie, rather than season 5 of his Prime Video series. Speaking to ScreenRant's Liam Crowley, Krasinski commented on how there are different types of Jack Ryan adventures that can now be explored through movies instead of new seasons, saying, "I think we have more stories to tell." Hopefully, with Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War once again becoming a global hit on Prime Video, a sequel update will not be long.
