Nintendo has no shortage of dormant gaming properties or franchises that are just waiting for a modern revival, but if there's one spinoff that has been noticeably forgotten in recent years, it's Dr. Mario. Even though we don't have an official announcement for a new Dr. Mario game to look forward to, a recent leak suggests Nintendo will be revisiting Mario's backup career sooner than we think.
As reported by My Nintendo News, Nintendo recently filed a patent for a newly updated trademark of the Dr. Mario World mobile game that was shut down in 2021, prompting theories that the forgotten Dr. Mario sequel may return in some form on the Switch or Switch 2.
