Stephen King’s 30-Year-Old Novel Getting New Adaptation From Sam Raimi

Sam Raimi and Stephen King are giving Desperation another go.

First published in 1996, the novel revolved around a variety of people kidnapped by Collie Entragian, the deputy of the eponymous fictional town, putting them in a fight for their survival and to maintain their sanity. Desperation also marked a rare entry into King's bibliography as it was the only title to have a mirror novel released at the same time, with The Regulators set in a parallel universe to its counterpart and featuring an extradimensional demonic entity tying the two together.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Raimi and King are teaming up for a new adaptation of the author's 1996 horror novel. Raimi is attached to produce the project through his Ghost House Pictures banner alongside partner Robert Tapert, while also being in talks with Final Destination Bloodlines duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein to direct, and Ryan Brennan attached to pen the screenplay.
