35 Years Later, Terminator 2 Is Getting The Sequel We Always Wanted
Terminator: Survivors Is The Terminator 2 Sequel We've Waited Years For
The first two Terminator movies remain some of the best releases in history, transitioning from the horror elements of the first to a straight-up action sci-fi in the second. Which of the two you prefer likely comes down to the general approach and genre that you lean towards, but both are spectacular efforts that are well worth returning to today.
Unfortunately, the series has really struggled for direction since then, and though there have been plenty of pseudo-sequels for T2, fans can't really decide on what the best course of action is. Now, another contender is about to enter the fray, and it could right all the wrongs of some very disappointing films in the process.
Terminator Is Going Back To Its Sci-Fi Horror Roots
Over on Steam, you should be able to find the store page for upcoming release Terminator: Survivors, an action adventure game from developer Nacon Studio. Excitingly, you'll be a part of the resistance, building up your forces to take on Skynet and the AI threat, all while the T-800 is relentlessly hunting you down.
In sharing what fans can expect from the game, the developer posted the following insight:
"Four years have passed since the day humanity almost disappeared. The truth behind this apocalyptic event has yet to be uncovered. You emerge from a shelter to try and re-establish a semblance of society, only to discover a world ravaged by Skynet, who seem hell-bent on eliminating you and the last remnants of humanity.
"Fight the first Skynet prototypes and help the Resistance rise from the ashes of civilization. But beware, the legendary T-800 is after you, and staying in one place for too long could prove fatal. Investigate and discover the truth behind the nuclear apocalypse, Skynet and the Terminator threat."
Excitingly, the game is set in the official timeline for the franchise, straight after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The chronological follow-up will also allow players to make their experience their own, influencing the universe before John Connor has managed to fully build up the resistance.
Terminator: Survivors Is One To Watch
Everything we have seen of the game so far looks very good, and the visuals look very at home alongside the films we have seen so far. That said, the only real caveat is the fact that Terminator: Survivors doesn't have a release date just yet, so you might be waiting a while before you actually get to play it.
