Marvel Tokon Datamine Suggests Rocket Raccoon Will Be A DLC Character
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is officially here, and by the sounds of it, ArcSys has another pretty good fighting game on its hands. It already has a bunch of fun characters to play around with, and even more on the way. We already know that Phoenix Cyclops has been confirmed as the game's first DLC character, while references to Gambit, Doctor Strange, and The Fantastic Four have all been found.
The dataminers haven't stopped there either. After even more digging, people have found even more lines of code that reference certain features coming to the game, such as costumes, as well as a line that just outright confirms that Rocket Raccoon will also be DLC.
Rocket Raccoon Is Seemingly Headed To Marvel Tokon
First shared by a ResetEra user called Neoxon, a line that says Kamala is "delighted to see Groot and Rocket" was found, but it also warned the devs to be "careful with the look, as he's future DLC." Seems like a pretty nailed on inclusion if even Marvel Tokon's devs have admitted as much in the game's files. Very much a silly way to blow the lid on something like that.
Next up, the datamine also revealed that several characters will be receiving both Classic and Legacy costumes, and dataminers have determined that these will be Hulk, Spider-Man, Green Goblin, and Doom. Those are the only ones found in the files so far, but if four characters are getting Classic costumes, the rest will probably follow in time.
And, finally, while this last little info drop isn't anything specific, several terms have been found that seem to suggest Marvel Tokon monetization going forward will take the form of a Battle Pass, which isn't all that surprising as it's a common tactic these days. Hopefully, Tokon will adopt the Marvel Rivals approach and let you keep Battle Passes you actually buy and bring them back down the line.
