Ubisoft gives update on upcoming Assassin's Creed projects, including future remakes

Ubisoft has issued a statement on the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise, featuring new information on the upcoming Invictus and Hexe projects.
Assassin's Creed Invictus and Assassin's Creed Hexe are codenames for two upcoming games in the series, which Ubisoft mentioned a few years ago but haven't spoken about in a long while.
As Ubisoft releases the final major update for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, it has also confirmed the status of several future projects that are in development at the studio.
In a blog post titled Fall 2026 update, Ubisoft wrote that "The team behind Codename Invictus, our ambitious multiplayer project, has had a busy year. A few months ago, hundreds of players joined our first private Insiders Session, got hands-on with an early prototype, and shared feedback directly with the development team."
Ubisoft says that feedback to the return of PvP multiplayer in the series has been "very positive", and that "players saw great potential in the foundations but wanted more of the pillars that define Assassin's Creed".
A release window for Invictus was not mentioned, but Ubisoft says the game is "evolving in an exciting direction".
As for Assassin's Creed Hexe, the next singleplayer game in the franchise, "steady progress" is being made but Ubisoft mentions that there is "still work ahead of us".
More information on the upcoming game is due to land in 2027 via a major update, so this could be when we finally see some live footage.
Ubisoft addresses future Assassin's Creed remakes
In addition to giving updates on Assassin's Creed Invictus and Hexe, Ubisoft also said that it has no other remakes currently in development.
"One thing we want to be transparent about today is that we currently have no other Assassin's Creed remake actively in development. Our teams are already focused on the next chapter of Assassin's Creed titles, including projects you haven't heard about yet, featuring new settings and stories," Ubisoft wrote.
"But don't mistake that for a closed door. Like many of you, we love the idea of revisiting our classic titles, and we'll keep exploring opportunities to bring older titles back."
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was the first full remake of an earlier Assassin's Creed game, and it was received well by fans and critics at launch.
Our review of the remake back in July said that Ubisoft had "made one of the best games ever, even better."
As well as this, Ubisoft has also confirmed that New Game+ will be coming as a future update for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This has been one of the most requested features for the game, so it's cool to see something like this get added six years after launch.
