Taylor Sheridan Crosses 12.4 Billion Minutes Viewed With Hit Western Crime Series This Year
Taylor Sheridan's Landman has lassoed a new streaming mark.
Sheridan's long list of TV shows that he has either created or produced includes several hits. While many of them come from the Yellowstone Western franchise, which includes the original series and both prequels and sequels, Sheridan's collection of hits traverses franchises and genres. Still, the creator made a name for himself with Westerns, and it is through that genre that Sheridan continues to put out consistent hits. Now, a new update has revealed just how successful one of the creator's multi-season Western series is, and it sets the Paramount+ TV show up for an exciting future.
Nielsen has shared the first of its biannual reports, which reveals that Sheridan's Landman amassed a whopping 12.4 billion minutes viewed in the first six months of 2026. According to the chart, it was not enough to have the Paramount+ neo-Western land on Nielsen's top 10, with Landman coming in at 13th, though the drama came up as a resounding success. For comparison, Nielsen's coveted chart is led by Netflix's Stranger Things, which came to and end on December 31, 2025. The hit sci-fi series racked up 23.26 billion minutes viewed in the first semester of the year.
At 10th on the chart is the animated PAW Patrol, available on Prime Video and Paramount+, with 13.56 billion minutes viewed. With its 12.4 billion minutes, Sheridan's Landman might come in at 13th overall for TV shows, but it ranks as high as #4 when it comes to original streaming series, with all three above it making it onto the overall TV top 10. When it comes to originals, Landman ranked higher than massive hits like Prime Video's video game adaptation Fallout — 7.98 billion minutes, #9 among originals — Netflix's live-action One Piece — 5.66 billion minutes, #15 original series — and more.
Landman was co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, with the neo-Western series being inspired by the Boomtown podcast about oil companies that was hosted by Wallace. The Paramount+ hit series stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, the show's title landman working for an oil company. Landman returned for season 2 on November 16, 2025, with the show being renewed for season 3 that December, before Landman season 2's finale, "Tragedy and Flies," was released on Paramount+ on January 18, 2026. The neo-Western series' strong streaming performance, according to Nielsen's report, boosts its chances of returning for even more seasons.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Landman holds a high 80% critics' score. In ScreenRant's Landman season 2 review, Grant Hermanns gave the show a 7 out of 10 score. According to the writer, Landman did not find a way to better work with its female characters than in season 1, which had already been criticized for it. Hermanns claimed they felt "inconsequential" to the new episodes of Sheridan's hit series. That said, he did praise how Demi Moore's Cami specifically has more of a role to play in Landman season 2. With its streaming success, Landman has time to correct any flaws.
