The Last of Us Season 3 Might Be the End of the Series

Season 3 appears to be the final addition to HBO’s live-action adaptation of The Last of Us, and it will be released in 2027.

Last year, Craig Mazin, the showrunner of the adaptation, mentioned that the team had already considered “Season 3 and Season 4,” which led many viewers to believe there could be further seasons. However, earlier this year, it was suggested that the upcoming season would be the final one, and that has been reiterated since then.

The Last of Us Season 3 Set to Arrive in 2027

In a new interview with Deadline, HBO and Max Content Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys was asked about The Last of Us Season 3. Bloys was first asked when fans should expect Season 3 to arrive, to which he answered, stating, “It’ll be happening in ’27. I don’t have a date.” When asked whether the CEO can confirm this is indeed the last season, Bloys responded, “I think [showrunner] Craig [Mazin] has planned it as the final season.” Craig Mazin is yet to officially confirm whether TLOU Season 3 is the end.

From what has been officially confirmed about The Last of Us Season 3, players already know that Kyriana Kratter and Michelle Mao have been cast to play Lev and Yara in the upcoming season. It has also been revealed that the next season will be shot from Abby’s perspective, which those who have played the games will understand. Other than that, we still haven’t received a release date or information on other potential castings for what seems to be the final season.
