Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight: Heroes Of The Lost Desolation Officially Announced
Image by Michael WhelanBrandon Sanderson's Cosmere has become a global phenomenon, with The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn series creating one of the most sprawling fantasy universes in the genre. While the first full arc in the Stormlight Archive is complete, Sanderson's second arc, better known as "the Back Five," remains one of the most anticipated series in fantasy literature. Unfortunately, Book Six isn't expected to arrive for some time, likely not until 2031 by Sanderson's own estimates.
The good news is there's plenty of new content on the way to keep you busy if you're eager to dive back into the Cosmere, with Sanderson recently announcing a major update to his long-awaited Ghostbloods trilogy, as well as the official Mistborn movie, a Stormlight Apple TV+ series, and a series of new expansions for the official Cosmere RPG, including the Mistborn campaign setting and the new Tidebreakers Stormlight campaign.
In addition to all these exciting projects, fans can also now look forward to the upcoming release of Stormlight: Heroes Of The Lost Desolation in the first half of 2027 (via Brotherwise).
Stormlight: Heroes Of The Lost Desolation Arrives In Early 2027
Stormlight: Heroes Of The Lost Desolation is an official new campaign coming to the Stormlight Campaign Setting of the Cosmere RPG. Back by popular demand, it's a pared-down version of a massive 400-player campaign that played out at Dragonsteel Nexus back in 2025, made compact for individual tabletop sessions.
The announcement comes alongside several major updates to the Cosmere RPG in a recent blog post following Brotherwise Games appearance at the recent Gen Con conference. The update included the announcement of the aforementioned Tidebreakers campaign, which serves as a follow-up to the levels 1–7 Stonewalkers campaign, introducing the campaign-length adventure for levels 10–16. However, they included a teaser for a few exciting 2027 releases as well:
Cosmere RPG players can also expect three new adventures in the first half of 2027: a new retail kit adventure, a new Free RPG day adventure, and Heroes of the Lost Desolation. Set during one of the ancient Desolations, this was a hit as the 400-player game for Dragonsteel Nexus 2025 — check out WeGeekTogether’s video on it! It's An Exciting Time To Be A Cosmere Fan
Aside from these announcements, there's even more to look forward to on the gaming front if you're a fan. For players looking for something they can play at their own pace, the Cosmere Solo Handbook finally got a release date for August 2027. Further, the newly announced tabletop strategy game set in the Cosmere universe, War for Roshar, is officially kicking off its Kickstarter Campaign on October 13.
This campaign will also include an opportunity to snag unique exclusive Stormlight Premium Miniatures and the first-ever Mistborn Premium Miniatures, while the new Mistborn deck-building game just got a new expansion titled Mistborn: The Well of Acension. There's no shortage of Cosmere content to dive into at the moment, and there's no question fans are going to have their hands full for the foreseeable future.
