James Bond Gets Official Casting Timeline From New Franchise Boss

The search is narrowing for the next James Bond.

After leading the charge successfully for 15 years, Daniel Craig said farewell to the iconic spy action franchise with No Time to Die, in which Ian Fleming's superspy was killed. Development on a new era of the Bond franchise began properly in early 2025, as Amazon MGM Studio acquired full creative control of the series, and Spider-Man vet Amy Pascal and Harry Potter's David Heyman were tapped to oversee development on the next installment, the twenty sixth in the official franchise.

Now, in an interview with Deadline for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Amy Pascal offered the first official update on the new James Bond casting timeline. Directly responding to the question of news coming before the end of the year, the new franchise boss confirmed "the end of the year is a good bet" for when the next actor to don the live-action 007 mantle will be announced, and shared that the team are being "really, really methodical" with their search:

PASCAL: Having worked with Barbara Broccoli at the studio, I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow. And it’s got to be something really different that is stirring and exciting and different.
