Hogwarts Legacy: Wizarding Academy mod is the GTA RP-style update we have been asking for

Hogwarts Legacy does one thing very, very well: immersion.

Ever since Potterheads opened the first chapter of Philosopher's Stone and saw Vernon Dursley's ordinary day turn to bewitched bedlam, the idea of escaping to this magical kingdom just outside of our grasp has been tantalising.

For the first time, Hogwarts Legacy opened the door usually closed behind the ethereal shroud of Platform 9 3/4 and invited the mass fandom into the wizarding world.

From then on, players were caught stunned by the changing staircases, talking paintings, and flying beasts around the castle, as if we'd enrolled for a year of studies ourselves.

Well, not quite, as the protagonist embarks on his own story carved out by the ancient ancestors of Hogwarts Castle.

The one thing you don't really get to do is become your own wizard.

Until now.

Taking a leaf out of the Grand Theft Auto NoPixel roleplay servers, which were recently added as a permanent fixture inside the Rockstar Games PC launcher, this Hogwarts Legacy co-op mod is the RP experience that we've longed for.

Hogwarts Legacy roleplay is alive and kicking thanks to this mod

Released on September 14, the Wizarding Academy RP mod gives players the opportunity to enrol in Hogwarts themselves, carve out their own journey, and enjoy the minor things in life instead of risking their life in Death Eater duels.

"Our custom Roleplay Mod transforms Hogwarts Legacy into a living, multiplayer roleplay world where you are no longer just following a story — you are creating your own," the mod description reads.

"Instead of playing alone, you will share the castle, the grounds, and adventures with other students. Attend classes, join events, build friendships (or rivalries), and shape your own magical journey."

The idea of the roleplay mods is that players don't have to follow linear storylines and can simply get up to mischief with friends.

Wizarding Academy also comes with new areas around the map (especially in the castle), new spells, and menus adapted to whichever role you adopt.

From Hufflepuff students to professors, aurors, and magical beast tamers, there are roles for everyone in the Wizarding Academy RP mod.

Hogwarts Legacy mods have been getting increasingly special while we continue to wait for a sequel title, such as this Diagon Alley expansion that finally adds the London shopping street in all of its glory.

If leaks are to be believed, a sequel announcement is imminent as Harry Potter returns to action in the rebooted HBO series, making for a full winter of spellbinding action.
