Prime Video's New 8-Part Drama Series Delivers Stellar Audience Score On Rotten Tomatoes

A brand-new drama series on Prime Video debuted this week to positive reviews from audiences and critics alike.

Prime Video has released several new shows throughout 2026, including Steal, Young Sherlock, Off Campus, Every Year After, Sterling Point, Bait, Elle and Ride or Die. Some of them are currently on the streamer's U.S. Top 10 list, with Ride or Die, which stars Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, sitting at No. 1 three weeks after its premiere.

Sterling Point, the series right beyond Ride or Die at No. 2, was just released on Prime Video on August 5, and it's already earned stellar reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 86% audience score and 92% critic score.

This spells good news for its future, though it is too early to know if viewership numbers are high enough to warrant a second season.

On Rotten Tomatoes, audiences called the eight-episode drama charming, funny and nuanced, with the cast and the writing in particular receiving praise. Some reviewers even went so far as to say that Sterling Point is one of the better Young Adult (YA) shows out right now.

Critics, meanwhile, commended the writers and producers for not always leaning into typical tropes seen in modern stories about teenagers. The characters are likable, and the series as a whole is great escapism, they added.

Screen Rant's Rianna de Bono-Smith explained that Sterling Point has a messy start, but it finds its footing by the end and proves why Prime Video is one of the best streamers for teen dramas.

Ella Rubin stars on Sterling Point as Annie Jacobson, whose grandfather leaves her his mysterious Canadian island in his will. When she ventures there, Annie discovers numerous family secrets. During this new journey in her life, she also makes friends and finds romance on the island.

Before Sterling Point, Rubin starred in movies like Fear Street: Prom Queen and the Oscar-winning Anora, and the TV shows The Chair, Gossip Girl and The Girl From Plainville.

Rubin's co-stars are Amélie Hoeferle, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, Keen Ruffalo, Mabel Strachan, Missi Pyle, Jay Duplass and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Sterling Point isn't the only show that Morgan is on right now; he's also starring in The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3, which airs every Sunday on AMC.

Actor-turned-director Megan Park created the series after helming the award-winning films The Fallout and My Old Ass. Her acting credits include Diary of the Dead, A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song, What If, Central Intelligence, The Secret Life of the American Teenager and The Neighbors.

On Sterling Point, Park serves as co-showrunner with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, and an executive producer alongside Schwartz, Savage, Tom Ackerley and Dani Gorin.

The show consists of eight episodes, which were released all at once on Prime Video, with half of them being directed by Park, including the premiere and finale. She also wrote the scripts for three of the episodes.

Since Sterling Point just premiered on Prime Video, it hasn't been renewed for a second season yet, but Rubin has expressed an interest in returning if the streamer delivers good news on that front.
